When the BRC (Brisbane Racing Club) and the QTC (Queensland Turf Club) merged into one race body, the BRC (Brisbane Racing Club), the BTC Sprint was renamed and is now known as the BRC Sprint.

The BRC Sprint is a Group 3 thoroughbred race conducted at the second race meeting of the Brisbane Winter Racing Carnival, the Doomben Cup Day. It is run over 1350m under quality handicap conditions and has stakes set at $125,000.

The BRC Sprint is now administered by the Brisbane Race Club – one of Australia’s top-quality racing clubs.  The racecourse – Doomben Race Track – was originally a creek and swampy marsh. Quite miraculously, it was later developed into the best racecourse in Queensland. The Doomben turf track is about 26 metres wide and has a circumference of 1715 metres. The races are conducted in a clockwise direction.

Due to the beautiful gardens that surround the track, it is often called the Garden Racecourse. The club hosts around forty-two races per year, including twenty-four Saturdays, two public holidays about twenty midweek meetings. The Doomben race track has always been host to some of the best international horses.

The race time schedules are confirmed three weeks ahead for the convenience of the general public. The tickets for the general racecourse admission are available at the entrance of the racecourse turnstile. Certain dress codes have to be adhered to.
